This is very youthful advice. I suspect the people that constantly complain about “gunners” are the same ones that can’t figure out why they can’t get a job after law school. Kissing ass is a part of building relationships, and relationships are a critical component of career-building. To suggest that a room full of people should sit there like silent lemmings is a dis-service to law students, and undermines the role of the professor in maintaining order in the classroom.
Gunners are annoying and nobody likes them, not even the teachers whose ass they are trying to kiss. Teachers want more than one person to contribute to the discussion. By alienating your classmates with whom you will be working in the future, I don’t really think you are helping yourself career-wise. This isn’t to say that you should never speak up in class, just that you should do it in the same relative porportion as everyone else.
And I’ll add that this video doesn’t distinguish between the intelligent gunner and the idiot who thinks they are intelligent.
Its one thing if the person speaks up and says something on point that is good to have in your notes – its another when the idiot speaks up and everyone knows the person is wrong or doesn’t understand at all.
I am a teacher. I think what needs to be done is this: test the children in a class each year, as school begins. At the end of that year, retest the children. I believe where there has been no learning, there was no teaching. Teachers are quite often not really in to teaching! Some dislike the children. Some are just lazy. I believe elementary children should be tested, first. This is where children (without realizing it) decide if they even like school or NOT. The happy teacher, who teaches well, will show a classroom of students who have learned a lot from that teacher.
First of all you shoud be called a great BIG conservative. To be an American you should have respect for the Constitution and what it stands for. The current admin does not even recognize to Constitution. Mr. Bush considers it "A god damn piece of paper" Cheney cannot even remember that the military oath is to defend the Constitution. (His memory failed during a prepared speech to West Point graduates)
At the end of your dissertation you requote Mr Bush as stating he he stands firm for non-negotiable demands of human dignity.
So far during his watch:
Rescue workers at ground zero were lied to regarding their health.
Habeus Corpis was revoked after 200 years
Torture was instituted (including children)
Americans have had their phone conversations eaves dropped upon.
The public has been lied to regarding war.
Thousand of American soldiers have died
Hundred of thousands of Iraqi citizens have been murdered.
The deficit is at 3 Trillion dollars and the American dollar may collapse because of the debt.
Gas prices have risen dramatically and that is not due to the price of oil. The refineries are not working at capacitiy and the oil companies ( this admin. is a part of) have raked in record profits.
The middle class has eroded. Americans are now putting living expenses on their credit card.
The government has not been held accoutable to the people.
Women are certainly not respected when the ban on late-term abortions did not include emergencies concerning the life of the mother.
Religion is only tolerated if you believe in the approved God.
Property Rights are not respected when you consider "eminant domain"
Freedom of speech is only "free" when you agree with the policies of the admin. (or if your FOX noise)
There is NO equal justice since this current regime has taken power and eroded our civil rights. The same rights that we are supposedly defending with the war on terror.
The USA has not signed the Kyoto accords.
The USA has NEVER signed any UN resolutions regarding human rights.
The USA does not belong to the International Court so none of our leaders can be tried for human rights violations or crimes against humanity.
Stop listening to the propaganda and do some independent research before you regurgitate the "official line".
This president may think he has principles but he certainly does not abide by them. The sheep that are following are fellow Republicans (congress) and certainly NOT liberals!!!
So whose idea of "right" are you speaking of?
I think that this essay has the potential to be GREAT is it a Narrative?
There are a few issues that you should work on. It doesn't have great flow. I suggest reading it out loud to yourself and see how you feel about it. Cut out the things that just don't seem very important. Also make sure you are using the same tense through the entire essay.
post this again after you make these few revisions and i bet it will be GREAT
But when I’m in an civ pro class that only last an hour, I don’t want to learn about how interesting someone in my class is… I want to learn about personal jurisdiction. Usually, gunners in law school raise their hand just to break hypotheticals, which is completely unproductive.
I’m a gunner. I keep my comments relevant to the lecture. I don’t give a f about what anyone thinks. This Wong guy is a tard. Why doesn’t he save the gum for off-camera?
the Gunner will keep the heat off of me!
IF I HAVE A QUESTION I AM GOING TO ASK IT but it will be on the RELEVANT class materials at hand that everybody wants to know but is waiting for someone else to ask and EVERYBODY FAILS it on the test!
You are really akward in the first part of your paragraph, you should try to make the part where you are describing the traits to have in the forensic a little less repetitive. You probably should also use "you" less because in almost every sentence in that part, you use "you" in the beginning of every sentence and in many other places as well. Maybe use third person instead of first person
Silvia C, There is a lot of information on the internet that can help you. Different schools offer different programs and many people change concentrations or majors. http://www.americaschoicetoday.com/Art-School.html
Who is Rose? You don't make that clear. You also seem to be jumping from her bed, straight to a school scene. You need some transition there.
Descriptions like 'my dark hair' need to be avoided because people don't think of themselves that way. Another person would.
You have introduced several people without saying who they are. That would be the place to put descriptions.
The plot definitely held my attention. It just needs some tweaking.
While law is not for everyone(due to the extensiveness of the subject),a law professional has more options today than existed never before.Corporate, private practice, investigation, consultant and many more.

The AF, by far, has the best quality of life, even to a fault. However, the Army has more opportunities/jobs.
But the previous poster was correct about you needing to talk to a recruiter.

But I suppose its all a matter of perspective.

I have to say, I think I was a “gunner,” and I was number one in my class first semester.
Half the time, I’m just answering profs questions to fill the awkward silence since other cowards are too scared to speak up.
I don’t give a f*ck about the other people in my class – each one was just an obstacle to my A. If I don’t understand, I’m speaking up.
Frankly, if my “gunning” wasted other peoples time, BETTER FOR MY GRADE if they learned less.
Blame the grading system, not me.
